Code of Ethics
1. According to the regulations in force, breeders must have adequate space and facilities at their kennel.
2. Breeders must ensure the required attention for their own dogs, and provide them with the appropriate socialization skills as well as necessary physical activity.
3. Breeders should not breed their bitches before the third rut, not before they turn 18 months old and not over the eight years, unless certified to be in good health.
4. Each bitch should not be bred more than five times in her lifetime.
5. Breeders should not breed their bitches before the second rut after their last litter, and in any case they should breed them only after 12 months since their last litter.
6. Breeders should control all of their stud dogs and bitches for hips, elbows, eyes and heart hereditary diseases.
7. Breeders should omit all dogs from their breeding programs that are affected by those diseases.
8. Breeders should not give away their puppies before they turn 60 days old. Before breeders can give them away, puppies must have received their first vaccination, be enrolled at the canine end and be micro chipped. Puppies must have taken a veterinary examination to certify their good health and they should be dewormed. They must be accompanied by their health card and a photocopy of their parents’ pedigree and certificates attesting to the exemption from hereditary diseases. A copy of allegation of born and registration , which was previously sent to competent national office, should be given to the new owners.
9. Breeders should not trade litters or individuals that are not the result of their breeding.
10. Breeders should not sell their dogs to businesses.
11. Breeders must inform the new owners about the parents of the puppy they’re buying, about their bloodlines, about the incidence of hereditary diseases on those bloodlines and about the value of the puppy they’re bringing home. New owners must be given the necessary information for the proper management of their puppy.
